The Fairy Godmother Project of Houston is a 501c(3) non-profit organization which provides prom, graduation and Homecoming attire in the greater Houston area for students who can not afford them. The students choose their attire with the help of volunteers who serve as personal shoppers during an annual shopping day.
" This year we are working in collaboration with Magpies & Peacocks, a non-profit 501c3 design house based in Houston. The M&Ps mission is to create an environment for positive change by nurturing arts education, keeping fashion out of landfill, and giving back to the Houston community. This year M&Ps will be bringing in local designers to do alterations and redesigns to bring the collection up-to-date and create a custom shopping experience for our students at their warehouse. "
The Fairy Godmother Project of Houston was founded in 2000 by Ellen Chang, a Houston resident. During the past decade, the non-profit organization has provided attire to thousands of students for free at over a dozen shopping days hosted by local businesses and schools with the assistance of local volunteers and donors throughout the community.
