'Impermanent Flora' – the zero waste, avant garde, amazon inspired collection under our 'Re:ne(w) by René Garza for Magpies & Peacocks' label walked the coveted catwalk at London Fashion Week AW18 with Fashion Scout London to a crowd of 300+ inside London's iconic Freemasons' Hall in the beautiful Vestibules, February 18, 2018. Partnering again with our friends at Fashion for Conservation this years focus and theme was rainforest conservation. The collection was featured in WWD, Vogue Italia and British Vogue. Post PRESS RELEASE.
Re:ne(w) by René Garza For Magpies & Peacocks is founded on the concept that resource sustainability is the responsibility of every individual – being conscious of both our actions and their impact on our planet. The Re:ne(w) collection “Impermanent Flora” – an avant-garde rainforest collection made entirely from waste textiles and up-cycled clothing – reinforces the value of building a sustainable future for design; the importance of social responsibility, ethical sourcing and circular innovation; and the ramifications of post-consumer textiles in our landfills.
"As designers we have a responsibility to innovate, push boundaries and influence thought. I take that responsibility very seriously. The inspiration for Impermanent Flora was, of course, drawn from the sumptuous beauty, texture and opulence of our rainforests, but the underpinning message for me was their fragility. We have finite resources on our planet, and as its guardians it should not only be our duty, but our honor to protect and celebrate them." René Garza for Magpies & Peacocks

The Re:ne(w) collection is entirely up-cycled from post consumer textiles donated to Magpies & Peacocks, a non-profit design house (501c3) dedicated to the collection and sustainable reuse of fashion, textiles and accessories – their programs are designed to disrupt the cycle of waste in the garment industry. Each look in the Re:ne(w) collection has been constructed from bolt ends, waste fabric and donated clothing from local businesses, individuals, and even includes materials harvested from Super Bowl 51 during M&Ps work with the NFL Environmental Sustainability Department post game. Re:ne(w) was previously selected to show at London Fashion Week as part of a seven stop tour for Fashion for Conservation Elephantasia 2017 and was featured in British Vogue
