The Love ReHeirloomed Collection – Featured jeweler Jan Forrester | JD Designs
Sustainable Fashion up-cycler, 501(c)3 non-profit Magpies and Peacocks, joined forces with third generation Houston Fine Jeweler Jan Forrester of JD Designs to launch their collaborative and beautifully reworked nuptial collection, ‘Love Re-Heirloomed' for Earth Day 2016.
Houston, TX – When you mix Houston’s leading fashion non-profit design house with the exquisite craftsmanship of beloved Houston jeweler Jan Forrester and acclaimed New York City vintage designer | author Bridgett Artise, the result is a striking, artful, avant-garde and timeless collection of up-cycled pieces for the contemporary bride and groom. The garments are redesigned from a combination of Magpies & Peacocks (M&Ps) donated wedding gowns, classic suits and vintage fur coats, the rings from donated jewelry parts and lose stones — all carefully mixed and mingled to create one-of-a-kind designs.
"Re-Heirloomed collections are intended to honor the history of the pieces that get donated to us, but also to move them forward into a more current fashion arena. A lot of our pieces have a rich back story and deserve another chance to get that ‘goose-bump’ moment in their lives, another moment to shine, to walk down an aisle or be handed down to a daughter or son. Encouraging people to clear out their closets to be up-cycled doesn’t just help us keep fashion out of landfill but it keeps those stories alive."
The collection also hosts a bevy of curated accessories provided by the haute non-profit, including pieces of up-cycled fine jewelry, antique ring boxes | hat frames and an assortment of evening clutches. Love Re-Heirloomed will be available for sale on our website and at Born Again Vintage.
