Magpies & Peacocks (M&Ps) is a Houston based non-profit design house (501c3) dedicated to the collection, curation, and sustainable reuse of post consumer textiles diverted from landfill – to disrupt the cycle of waste in the fashion industry and mitigate its grave environmental impact. We create small-batched up-cycled collections from a resource library of reusable material; and offer skill building, sustainability education, and community workforce opportunities.

...and how does it work?

We collect, curate and reuse waste textiles – Keeping fashion out of landfill for creative reuse and to mitigate the environmental impact of textiles and apparel production on the planet.

We present waste as a resource – Supplying a post consumer textiles resource library to our creative team, and offering workshops and training.

We make up-cycled products from waste material – Working with our in-house production team and guest artists we create small batch products from that reclaimed material to help fund our programs.

We educate – Providing community workforce development programs and sustainability education for schools & colleges, savvying up consumers and designers, and providing a platform for innovation and action for industry change.

All the products we create start their lives as donated waste textiles, scraps, bolt ends or used clothing, either from partner organizations or from individuals cleaning out their closets.
