René Garza is the consummate aesthete! Between his ever demanding career in Fine Art, Textile and Styling he can be found flitting in and out of our warehouse generously collaborating with Magpies & Peacocks on many projects. Currently he is one of our Artists in Residency, working on an up-cycled capsule collections of redesigned clothing from our inventory entitled Re:ne(w), and a hugely valued part of our creative team. From presenting to teens during Fashion Camp, styling our Love ReHeirloomed photoshoot, helping us with The Arts Institute of Houston Runway Show for David Tutera Your Wedding Experience, creating original pieces for charity auction, and reworking donated vintage clothing, he is as passionate as an M&Ps volunteer as he is an artist (and he is a joy to collaborate with!). This year we are proud to be sending René on tour with Fashion for Conservation for Elephantasia 2017 for seven european venues including London Fashion Week.
New York based Fashion and Celebrity stylist, René Garza, learned to view the world differently early in life. Texas bred Garza summered in Mexico throughout his childhood. Garza moved to London after high school for a brief period to start his life. Through travel came an appreciation of art, culture and eventually fashion. In addition to being the Fashion Editor of FutureClaw Magazine, he contributes to top international fashion magazines such as Elle and Harper's Bazaar and is sought after by such photographers as Eric Guillemain, Diego Uchitel, Joshua Jordan, Gray Scott,Guzman, and Clayton Cubbit. Some of the celebrities that have been styled by Garza include Alicia Keys, John Legend, Christina Ricci, Jon Bon Jovi, Sofia Vergara, Terrance Howard, Naomi Campbell and many more. Inspiration usually comes from art, travel, minimalism, geometry, dark gothic and romanticism. When asked what the next step will be, he says his ultimate goal is to create images through styling and design that have a lasting and timeless significance.
